Nick van Dam, aa member of the IE Board, a Chief Learning Officer and the Chief of the Centre for Corporate Learning and Innovation, breaks down the five educational archetypes that IE University has already adopted and continues to advance in the long term. In this interview, Nick van Dam highlights the importance of European Universities developing strategies and approaches in order to tackle innovation and education technologies adequately.
Nick van Dam hypotheses whether the future of learning is based purely on digital learning. Using examples from his previous experiences with McKinsey and Deloitte, he introduces the so-called high-tech,high-touch strategy that combines state of the art immersive classroom experiences, powered by high-end technology. Van Dam emphasises the importance of IE students graduating with a foundational level of expertise in digital technologies in our ever more so dependent digital age.
I always say: 1% is all about strategy and visioning however, 99% is about execution. Without taking any risk nothing will happen, we are stuck to the status quo and we know that the status quo won’t help us down the road in terms of what we want to achieve from an overall vision perspective.
